Hosted Solar Eclipsing Self-Owned Systems

Through its partner relationships, in 2024 Visible Solar placed in service more than 650 residential rooftop solar installations across Texas, Tennessee and Kentucky. Using an innovative lease finance program, homeowners were able to onboard on-site renewable energy, typically for less than their monthly electric bill and with zero out-of-pocket cost. This arrangement provides pricing predictability for power users and enables homeowners to help further the energy transformation without having to outlay their own cash or undertake costly loans. Since many of these homeowners have only limited income tax liability, they are unable to use the federal investment tax credits (ITCs) that incentivize renewable development. Together, these factors are driving a move away from self-owned solar and towards third-party ownership (TPO).
